Instead of piggybacking on Magi's sets, I'll just put this here.

I've changed a few more since the first time. Sometimes I redraw the image from scratch, and sometimes I just trace over the compressed image for clarity. This version also has colored scrolls, but I haven't finished the symbols yet. It's an ongoing process.

Since this is a PNG32 file, the Glass Golem has some alpha modification to it. I plan on playing with transparencies in other tiles, but I'd like to ask ...

In case anyone didn't know about this, there was a challenge to create a 7 day roguelike that just ended. You can see all of the winners at www.roguetemple.com.

One that I'd like to recognize is DDRogue, as I think it's not unlike what a fighter's equivalent to Mage Guild would be. You play an assassin who gets new techniques and abilities for finding specific items lying around. Check it out!

I'm Jim, and I'm a roguelike addict.

(Hi Jim!)

It's been ten minutes since I last played a roguelike. I tried MageGuild and I was really impressed. It has a lot of polish and it's aesthetically pleasing, the latter being really important to me in an ascii game. Everything was clear and the colors were bright. I enjoyed the sense of personality that came with the choice between archmage patrons. Overall, I felt steeped in a sense of atmosphere from the very getgo, and that's a defining ...

I think it would help expand the game quite a bit if there was more customization opportunities. For example, using XML sheets as Monster definitions would allow players to customize the monsters, and XML files for custom intro/script, allowing for mods potentially. Possibly it could be coded that it recognizes a compressed-together Tileset and Monster Definitions file as a Mod file and uses them together accordingly?

I know that these ideas would take some immense amounts of coding, but ...

dropping a fake token in an inversion fountain gave me a real token (of opposite alignment). It wasn't clear if that was intentional or not.

Primal Chaos was one of my favourite spells. It was more early avalaible than Black Hole and it did area-of-effect damage, weakening and causing havoc within the enemy lies. The only thing I could wish for is an area-of-effect berserk spell (may be possible by charging your staff with a berserk item and "shaped bolt - ball" edge, yes?) to complete the insanity.

Now, I once had enemies from afar and wanted to land as much mayhem as possible. So I shot TWO primal chaos spells after ...

I looked through the changelog, and it doesn't seem that this has been fixed so far.

Here's what leads me to believe this is the case:

In 1.0, I was playing around with Summon. The first two times I tried it things ended badly (at least now I know to summon things out of mote-explosion range...), but the third time ...

Have your charge level effect every spell you cast. Have it as a special edge if it may ruin experience or something (perhaps as the end of the "held charge" you can add to "quick charge" etc).

I was very disappointed when I found out that my lighting bolt does roughly about as much damage as my +1 bolt.

So, in order to have power at the right price, why not have charge ...

So I thought this might be a fun topic to talk about. The issue of nuclear power.

What do you think of nuclear power in general? Do you think it has potential? Do you think that it has a future? Do you think they have a better alternative?

Are you worried about nuclear power plants now? Would you live near one? What about nuclear cemeteries?

And so on.

I myself have a bit of an axe to grind regarding this topic, but I'd like to hear what others have to think.

I would pay 3 solid character points and way more mana (probably as much as eight) to gain this status effect.

It is certainly a lot more powerful and useful then gravity / flight and certainly deserves to be swapped with them.

I don't know if you have coded this to set the MP cost for each inverse spell seperately but you should certainly consider really REALLY jacking it up if you can.

This may be intentional, but any attempts to set the font, from the options window, to regular (i.e. not bold etc) sets it to bold instead. You CAN, however, set it to regular from the xml file, so I'm assuming it is a bug of some kind.

Also, as far as I can tell, blinkbats' dissappearing can cause the game to crash, as well.

By the way, great roguelike much easier to get into than NetHack and those.

I've been writing down bugs and observed oddities as I encounter them in MageGuild. Would you prefer seperate topics in this forum, a single topic, or tickets in the bug tracker linked to by the Lukos main page?

Suggestion: casting while on an energy fountain

When I used Explode after being changed into a blue mote by a change fountain, my death was blamed on the fountain.

Code:mook - Level 2 - Dead

 Final Score: 201

Killed by a change fountain on floor 1 of Sateja's dungeon.

While humorous, I daresay my death was by my own hand than the fountain's.

I did it after the fountain was expended and a fair distance, so I don't think it was from any after effects from hitting the fountain itself. Can fountains explode? It might ...
