Hey! Long time no see! I was playing through the newest version after being away from the game for a while, and I managed to get through it in one shot. Here's my character dump:

Pretty straightforward character built around blowing things up.
Lightning bolt felt really weak to me this time around. I found myself using staff shots instead of it a lot of the time, despite taking no edges for those. Maybe it could use another point of damage or a better chance to paralyze? But then again, I did clear the game in one shot with that build, so I dunno. Fire Wall and Fireball were both great, but fire monsters were a problem.
Speaking of fire monsters - Sateja's level. Those flame djinns at the beginning were my worst nightmare. There's nothing in all of Mage Guild I hate and fear more than those demons, and I start in a crowd of four of them?! I had never been there before, so that wasn't a nice surprise. Anyway, I got through the final stage by keeping the armor spell active at all times (that's really an incredibly good effect for 1 point of mp) and I also had prepared a large supply of potions of final death in advance, so that was fortunate.
Despite the challenges of her level, Sateja herself put up no fight whatsoever.
